With my moving date moving closer and closer, my mind is racing with decorating ideas. When my to-be roommate and I went to look at the place, we were less than excited about how it’s currently decorated. The first words we exchanged when leaving were - “We could make it so much cuter!” True Story.

I’m in love with letterpress stationary - but letterpress posters? from Etsy? Yes, Please! These are just a few of the prints I’m pouring myself over. I’ve thought about my twenty-something apartment post-college for some time - equal parts sophisticated and fun. I know it’ll be a work in progress for a while but stay tuned and I’ll be filling in with updates!

Mason Jars

There’s a restaurant in Oxford that serves there drinks out of mason jars and I always thought there was something about it that was super charming. Now, they’ve been popping up all over the blogosphere and I’m totally in love. Whether they’re for simple summer drinks or housing flowers, they make anything look more polished. Coincidentally, I need new glasses to round out my kitchen. Now, I’m on a serious hunt to make these part of my life!

M.I.A.

Yep, that’s me. I’ve been majorly distracted lately. The place I’ve been subletting has sold and I’ve been crunched to find a place ASAP. My job internship has turned into a catchall. I’m now part of 3 separate teams - Account Management, New Business & Planning all the while still searching for a full-time position. Also, being one of my only friends to have a place in the city, I’ve been hosting every weekend. Needless to say, this blog has been taking a bit of a backseat in my mind. Once my life becomes more stable - ha - I’ll be back here blogging my little heart out. Promise.

Dogfish Head goes artsy

Teaming with “cinemagraph” -makers Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg, Dogfish head has found a way to advertise their beer in a whole new light. As a way to introduce the company’s new gluten-free strawberry-and-honey flavored ale, the vignettes take consumers through the process of making the brew.

With craft beers being oh-so trendy these days, this kind of advertising really gets that “handmade” feeling across. Far from the typical beer advertisements that are so prominent during the Superbowl, these ads bring the consumer behind the scenes. The journalistic aspect seems much more appealing and focused on the actual product than playing the animal card with Clydesdales. Besides the fact that Dogfish Head is one of my dad’s favorite beers, this new ale sounds pretty good. Summer + Strawberry beer sounds like a winning combination!

eos, omg!

I’ve never really been the lip gloss/chapstick type. But that may now be a thing of the past. I’ve seen these little EOS balms around for a while and finally got curious enough to try it myself. Two days later and it’s turned into an obsession. I went for the Summer Fruit flavor which comes in a pretty pink sphere. The shape may be a little bulkier than normal glosses but it makes it really easy to find in my seemingly bottomless purse. Considering the dental hygienist commented on how dry my lips were, you know it was a rough (ha) situation. But now they’re amazingly smooth. Now, I just need to decide what flavor to get next!

Happy 4th!

When I was little 4th of July always meant buying big packages of fireworks and realizes later that my mom would only let me set off the snakes - womp. Every year my neighborhood would have a party for the holiday. The kids would spent all day decorating our bikes with streamers and flags. Then we’d have a parade. It was definitely always a highlight to the summer!

This year a group of my college friends are all meeting up in Chicago for the occasion. I love that we have no plans - just a list of ideas, good company, and go-to attitudes! Whatever ends up happening, at least it will be full of fun and lots of laughs. Hope you all have a wonderful 4th!

An Uber Sandwich

Ugh i’ve been major mia. Life of an intern trying to get a full time position means trying to work my butt off and look really good. I NEED to make everyone in the office love me and wonder what they ever did before me. Shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Anyway, my boss took me to lunch the other day at what might become my new favorite sandwich place - and i don’t say that lightly. Enter Hannah’s Bretzel: Uber Sandwich Makers. First off, they used the word Uber so they’re already making it on my good side. But besides that, this place is fantastic. They focus on organic and fresh food and the bread, “I DIE.” I went for the vegetable bomb off a recommendation. But with options like “Italian Parma Ham & Goat Cheese” and “Apply Thyme Brie,” it seems like it’d be hard to go wrong at this place. And to sweeten the deal (pun intended) they have about a gazillion different European chocolates to finish the meal. Umm, hello? Dream status. Lucky for me, there’s a store location in my building! But if you’re in Chicago, you definitely need to check out one of their 4 shops in town. Seriously, do it!

Pencils and folders and pushpins, oh my!

The days of back to school season may be over but that doesn’t mean I still can’t obsess over office supplies, right? Tomorrow marks my first day of work and i’m just going gaga over ways to spruce up a boring cube. Of course, Etsy is my go to for unique items and they’re definitely not lacking in the office department. Here’s to hoping that pretty supplies will make logging those long hours a little more fun!

One for One

This maybe old news but I’m totally digging TOM’s new sunglasses line. I love the concept of TOMs but the shoes aren’t exactly my style - no offense to those that can rock them. But the sunglasses line? I can totally get on board with that. For those that haven’t heard, with every pair of sunglasses purchased, TOMs gives one person the gift of sight. This can mean anything from medical treatment to a pair of prescription glasses. Cool, right?

The sunglasses each have 3 iconic stripes. They’re supposed to represent you, the person you help and TOMs bringing the two together. With summer here, I’ve been rockin the aviators. With so many fun color combos of stripes, you can’t lose.

Meet My Roommate

As it worked out my big move to Chicago came much quicker than I expected. Therefore, I had to scramble to find housing - stat. The results: a family friend that’s moved but hasn’t sold their condo has been gracious enough to let me live their ‘til I figure out what I’m going to do in the long run. That means that I’ll be live by myself for the short run - slightly terrifying and fully exciting.

Always inspired by the wonderfully crafty “ps. I made this” blog, I decided to create a little friend to share the space. A trip to the flea market downtown lead to the finding of this little guy. Add a quick couple coats of spray paint and now I have a great little guy to keep me company. Now he just needs a fitting name…
